Things progress, but only slowly. Work is really busy right now - making early starts and late nights for a few weeks. When I chill out a bit more I will have time for knitting, film making, reading etc - that's the theory anyway.
Here's some slow progress Monkey socks (first one) and the plastic bag of plastic bags.
Meanwhile, a new project - I have heard from my Sockpal and I've contacted the person for whom I am the Sockpal (check out the Sockapalooza link if you don't know what I'm talking about!) So I have the opportunity to purchase additional sock yarn and think of new patterns! Hurrah!

Ah! Monkey socks. I am thinking of turning my hand to a pair of those as a sort of warm up for Sockapalooza, especially now I keep seeing so may lovely examples around the blogs I read... seems like a long time since I knit socks, although really I suppose it isn't :)
have you got any useful links to kiddie patterns?
I went through my knitting basket yesterday and pulled out all the spare wool. I've got enough to knit a small cardi in fair isle, but I'm trying to find some fair isle patterns that use the same number of colours as I've got (7).
I've got a few ideas, but am on the lookout for more.
Sorry Rowan, I've had a quick scout round and found that the availability of patterns for kids clothing of any description is limited, never mind specifically a fair-isle cardi. There are quite a few kids' patterns on Knitty (see links right) and loads on Knitting Pattern Central (which you can google quite easily but it's a bit slow and tedious to use), I think the best way, if you are feeling brave, would be to invent your own fair isle chart and apply it to a basic cardi pattern (eg there is a chart here which has six colours http://www.diynetwork.com/diy/na_knitting/article/0,2025,DIY_14141_4359482,00.html). Alternatively I suppose you'd have to get a fairisle book.
I don't think that link came out clearly - go to diynetwork.com and search 'funky fair isle'
Monkeys. I've never done these, but they're on the list. I'm a stocking stitch or 2x2 rib girl really.... how straightforward are these?
oooh, those blasted monkey socks; I LOVE 'EM!!! Seeing them knit in different yarn brands/colorways is really akin to seeing a brand new pattern! :-D
Natalie, they are really easy! There's a few yarn overs and some ssk and k2tog, but I promise you they are much easier than they look! I recommend you try them!
